This is an event that celebrates all things Australian. For many years both city and country folk have been visiting the Show to soak up the sights, sounds and smells of rural Australia. The Show offers a unique hands-on learning experience for people of all age groups and free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
Each year, the Royal Hobart Show features a wide range of attractions, activities and animal exhibitions, and judging that celebrates Tasmania's agricultural industries as well as well as our love for domesticated pets such as cats and dogs. Children love the cat and dog judging halls where they can see all the well-groomed pets, and the long time Show favourite the Animal Nursery which gives families the opportunity to pat rabbits and lambs and see turkeys, ducks and hens, calves and suckling piglets up close.
The program is jam packed with a wide variety of free activities and several major entertainment shows to keep the whole family enthralled for the full day. Displays and exhibits include educational, engaging and entertaining offerings such as sheep shearing, butter making, cow milking, cake baking demonstrations and classes, interactive children's activities, bee keeping, adult and youth art. All the traditional farm animal competitions, show jumping, equestrian events and the best vintage machinery display in Australia are all on show.
